Nightmare the type is not Nightmare the difficulty. This ghost fakes glass, fake throws, and fake footsteps, and it hunts more readily in the dark. The tutorial usually forces this type; skipping the tutorial does not. Turning lights on lowers the hunt chance and also hides some evidence. Only trust a crash if a pane is actually broken or an object actually moved. The evidence set is EMF 5, ghost orb, and Spirit Box. The difficulty page is the other meaning of the same word: a 2x preset with no grace period.
